OHS Weekly Sports Recap

Olympia High School’s athletics had a successful week with the majority of the teams adding wins to their record and competing well throughout their games and meets.

The Girls’ Basketball team started off their week in Monticello on Monday where they ended up losing 43-51. They came back from this loss on Thursday, winning a home game against St. Thomas More 57-37. This week of games ended the girls off with a 12-7 record, not including their Saturday game against Peoria Heights.

The Boys’ Basketball team had two games this week where they struggled to get a win. The first game on Tuesday was a close game but they couldn’t seem to pull through and lost 51-53 against Mt. Pulaski. On Wednesday they traveled to Flanagan Cornell where they ended up losing 45-52. Not including their Saturday game against La Salette Academy, the boys ended their week off on a 3-13 record.

Competing in two meets throughout the week, the Boys’ Wrestling team had a good week. At the first meet of the week on Friday the boys were met with success. They won three duals and ended up losing one at the away meet against Clinton, Tremont, and U-High. They also competed in the Illini Prairie Duals on Saturday the 15th.

The Boys’ Swim team has had some struggles due to their small team, making it difficult for them to place in the meets. Despite this though, the team has managed to continue to beat their personal records throughout the season, and at the three meets that occurred this week, PR’s were broken at each one. Neil Alford beat his PR in the 500 free, Tim Brenneman in the 50 free, Gage Hunt Schroers in the 100 breast, Jayson Michel in 100 back, Noah Wheeler in the 500 free, and the team broke a PR in the 200 medley 4x50 team relay.
