OHS Weekly Sports Recap

As winter sports are coming to an end IHSA Regionals and Sectionals are fast approaching. The Boy’s Basketball team started the week with a win against IVC on Tuesday with a score of 53-49. On Thursday they faced Central Catholic where they put up a good fight, staying a few points away from Central throughout the third quarter, but couldn’t get it together to pull through a win and lost 48-69. The team has two more games before they start regionals on the 19th where they will play DeeMack to start. They lost a close game to DeeMack earlier in the season, 39-45, so hopefully they can pull through and gain a win in their first regional game.

The Girl’s Basketball team played their last two regular-season games this week the first being against Prairie Central where they won 74-70 and the other being against Tri-Valley where they won 54-35. The girls finished their regular season with a 21-10 record and are 5th in the Illini Prairie Conference. Their regionals begin next Tuesday where they will play U-High. Also this week, Taylor Nowaskie officially broke Olympia’s All-Time Scoring Record and became OHS’s All-Time Leading Scorer.

On Friday and Saturday Olympia hosted the IHSA Wrestling Sectionals. Four boys from the team advanced to Sectionals last week; Dylan Eimer, Will Winter, Bentley Wise, and Nolan Yeary. The Boy’s Swim team had Senior Night this past Tuesday during their last regular season meet where they celebrated their lone senior Neil Alford. On the 19th the team will compete in the IHSA Sectional meet at Normal Community High School.
