Olympia High School Weekly Sports Recap

With all of the winter sports having come to a close, within the next few weeks spring sports will be starting up. These sports at OHS include; softball, baseball, girls soccer, and girls and boys track and field. Many of these spring sports had successful seasons last year that will hopefully transfer into this year’s season.

Both boys and girls track and field had their first meets of the season last week with the boys competing at the Cogdal Invite on the 5th and the girls on the 4th. Both teams competed in the Rantoul Indoor Meet on Saturday also. Coming up the girls have the NCWHS Girls Indoor Invite on the 16th and the Gene Armer Indoor Invitational on the 19th where the boys will also compete.

The softball team kicks off their season on the 14th where they will play Tri-Valley and then on the 17th they will face Brimfield at home. The team made it to the Sectional finals last year where they ended up losing to Taylor Ridge Rockridge, the eventual state champions. Now the girls will have their full season and with many starters coming back for this season they have lots of potentials.

The baseball team made it to the Regional championship last year and played a tough game against Shelbyville but ended up losing 2-3. The boys have lots of players this year and even have enough freshmen for them to start a freshman team for this season. The boys will also start their season on Monday with a home game against Brimfield and then on the 17th another home game against Canton. Girls soccer will begin their season on the 17th at Decatur.
